Wichita Furniture & Mattress announces expansion plans for a new 105,000 sq. ft. Furniture and Mattress Superstore Opening Fall of 2022

WICHITA, KS, January 3, 2022 – Wichita Furniture & Mattress is excited to announce the opening of its second location coming Fall of 2022. The massive 105,000 square foot superstore on 9 acres will be located at 4200 W. Kellogg Dr., Wichita, KS 67209, and will include a full renovation of the former Kmart property. This will be Wichita’s largest display of in-stock furniture, mattresses, baby and kids furniture, home décor, rugs, outdoor furniture and electronics!

“We are excited to announce the expansion of our 32 year, locally owned and operated brand. This superstore location will have more choices with something to fit every style and budget. Over the last several years we have been aggressively working on adding quality products and world class processes to maintain a huge in-stock selection from the world’s most recognized brands that can be delivered to our customers, in most cases, the same day! We have been planning for this expansion for years,”
said Jay Storey, President of Wichita Furniture, Inc., the parent company of Wichita Furniture & Mattress.

The new location will add more than 60 good paying local jobs. Several additional employees will also be hired at Wichita Furniture, Inc.’s Distribution Center to support the growth and additional business the superstore will generate.

Brad Saville, CEO and founder of Landmark Commercial Real Estate Inc. and Grant Glasgow, Senior Vice President of NAI Martens commercial real estate handled the transaction. “We are thrilled with the commitment that Jay Storey has made to the redevelopment of West Kellogg district and we are expecting many more exciting developments to be announced in 2022.”

Wichita Furniture & Mattress started in 1989 with a 10,000 square foot showroom on Second and Cleveland in Wichita. The business offered customers in the Wichita area an alternative hassle-free way to sell their gently used furniture items and buy new furniture closeout pieces direct from manufacturers.

In 1990 the store was growing at such a pace that it was necessary to relocate to a larger facility. The new location was three times the size of the first location at 30,000 square feet, located just west of Oliver on 13th Street, which is where the store is located today.
